Recommended reading/learning
Here are a few books that I recommend. I'll add to this list over time as I read new things or remember old things. These were all useful to me.

Learning
OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!
Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning - Peter C. Brown
Teaching and training
Talk to the Elephant: Design Learning for Behavior Change (Voices That Matter) - Julie Dirksen
Habits
There are 2 habit formation books I recommend. I've read them both, you probably only need to read one of these:
- The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do, and How to Change - Charles Duhigg
- Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones - James Clear
I read "The power of Habits" first so Atomic habits was not as impactful for me. There is a lot of overlap between the books. I do think Atomic Habits adds some new tools to the toolbox, specifically the concept of "voting" for who you want to be.
Writing
The written word is very powerful. I got a lot from these:
- On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft - Stephen King
- Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life - Anne Lamott
Public speaking
This is where I got my intense dislike for podiums:
Talk Like TED: The 9 Public-Speaking Secrets of the World's Top Minds - Carmine Gallo
Design
Never look at doorhandles the same again:
The Design Of Everyday Things - Don Norman
Community
People Powered: How Communities Can Supercharge Your Business, Brand, and Teams - Jono Bacon
Want to learn from me?
I'm running some technical workshops over at Prelude. These are damn fine learning experiences for individuals and teams.
The training covers skills such as: Python, Django, HTMX, AlpineJS, Git, Tailwind, Playwright and more.
