What I am doing now
Location
I live in South Africa 🇿🇦
Prelude
I founded a company named Prelude.
I've been working in software dev education for more than half a decade. I'm taking everything I've learned and I'm using it to craft premium quality learning experiences. I then sell the workshops at reasonable prices.
I have a few different goals for this business:
- I want to grow it. I believe good education can be scaled
- I want to build a place where teachers can flourish
- I want to generate enough excess goodness that I have some to share with folks who can't afford the training
This is my main thing right now.
Guild of Educators
This is a free and open community for teachers and educators. We are currently focusing on folks who teach Python.
The Guild is pretty new. It aims to empower teachers and educators by:
- Spreading skills
- Providing resources
- Sharing opportunities
- Being a community
Other community stuff
- I am a part of the Python Software Foundation's Education and Outreach workgroup
- I'm helping ot organise PyCon Africa 2025
- I'm helping to organise DJangoCon Africa 2025
Other than that, I speak at a lot of Python conferences.
Here is a talk I did in 2024 that I'm quite proud of. Check it out if you have a moment:
Want to learn from me?
I'm running some technical workshops and long-term mentorship over at Prelude. These are damn fine learning experiences for individuals and teams.
The training covers skills such as: Python, Django, HTMX, AlpineJS, Git, Tailwind, Playwright and more.
